going going back back to....
cali, cali....
this is it, the final packing of the house and the cross-country drive with Rufus back to Brooklyn. If anyone wants to come along for the ride, your return ticket is on me. My goal is to make the 2,800 mile trek in 4 days, and i want to leave on Saturday the 30th. Which means that halloween will be spent in a car, in full costume.
can't wait to see my wife. can't wait to hug and kiss her. can't wait to stress about moving with her. and I can't wait to see the kitties and the dog. and i can't wait to see all of my amazing friends that have made san diego such a special place. (and probably the place that i will spend all of my vacation days from now on when I need to get out of New York....yes, that means that Kim, Frances, Chris, Duke, Annie, Tony, Mike, Em, Jordan, Aaron, Alicia, Julie, Deron, Pat, Brian, John, Carlos, etc, etc, etc, this is my advance thank you for letting us sleep in your guest bedrooms or on floors, sofas in the near future)
oh and I can't wait to see my shovel as well....

set SAYL
Herman Miller unveiled their new chair.
Designed by Yves Behar from fuseproject, the SAYL chair is sure to be a pretty big seller coming in at $399. Especially when compared to the current industry leader the Aeron which starts around $799.
I met Yves once at the fuseproject studio when we met with them to design the Nixon headphones. He was nice enough. Mitch, who pitched us on the studio and what their capabilities were, spent most of the time with us and then Yves came in with his curly hair, tight jeans and tucked in shirt and said a few things. Then *poof* was gone. We hired them. Let's just say that Nixon paid a lot of money for design that year.

modern furniture alphabet
moving into our new place makes me think about furniture, paint colors and the relationship between the two. and artwork. and things like that. so this week will probably have a bunch of things related to these topics.
if you are in need of some great posters/prints that are about the aforementioned things, head over to the Blue Art Studio website. If I go to your place and we have the same stuff on our walls its ok. I'm giving up my source on this one.

DiEnda Run
Great write of the past weekend's trip on Hopper Mag over here. Check it out.
and yes it is true. Everyone in New York/New Jersey/New England hates everyone from California. Even though california Malcolm is fully welcomed into the group and I'm in a weird place on the line between being a west coaster and east coaster. word on the street is that there will be a coastal battle in the future.
pictures all stolen from hopper mag feature and all credit is due to Malcolm.

weekend camping trip
Anyway, here's a little something that we all should be rocking on these types of weekends though. It was sent to me by Jon B who somehow found the time to send me the link in between his duties with Tiny Showcase and The Head Light Hotel.
For more info, check out the tents here. and go to Jon's 2 websites to see some amazing stuff coming out of my favorite little big state, Rhode Island.

October Morning Ride
It was a beautiful sunny October morning. The rain had dried up and the air was clear and crisp and around 62 degrees. With the little bit of east coast moisture, 62 feels more like a west coast 55 or so. I put on my jeans and a hoodie and started the bike when I remembered that my brake light hasn't been working properly in some time now.
30 minutes later, I had this mess on my hands.
30 minutes later, I had this mess on my hands.
2 hours later, I was here. Looks the same. BUT at this point I had diagnosed my two major problems. 1) the 1157 LED bulb's contacts where not connecting to the brake light's terminal in the light's housing. THAT WAS IT! so I switched out the bulb for a regular 1157 and.......NOPE. OK, time to take a deep breathe and reason through it. found out I had a broken wire that was feeding power to the hydraulic brake switch's contact. stock sportster harnesses: blue is the power for your head and tail lights. BUT the orange with white stripe provide power to the accessories. swapped out the wire and we were in businesses.
An hour after that last hickup and things were ready to be put back together.
I got all my wires cleaned up a bit, reshrink wrapped, shortened, etc. Now all that's left is for me to remount my seat and rear fender. Word to the wise. THINK about and PLAN how your shit is put on your bike. My fender is a true test of patience with barely enough room to fit a wrench in and quarter turns at a time room to tighten the bolts. that will be fun.

was fun and will be fun
I was thinking about bikes, as usual, last night and how much fun I had learning about mild customization on my 883R. That was a fun bike to work on and to ride.
The shovel has also been really fun to learn about customizing, but in a whole different way.
