Wizard Blizzard

Rufus's turn-around reaction to seeing the snow at the front door this morning was awesome. I could see the expression of "NOPE" in his eyes as he looked right past me.

But soon enough, he was LOVING it.

Jeremy's Bolt Haus

A few months ago I asked him to send me some photos of his work space / motorcycle shop. When I had first met Jeremy, his motos and associated stuff was starting to take over a good amount of the garage so it was great that he was able to build a great little man cave to get away to and just have his stuff to play with.

This is a dream spot. Shed Life!

We've known each other for maybe 4 or 5 years through Nixon, but it wasn't until we did a motorcycle trip from Vegas to socal that we really had the chance to hang, talk, laugh and get to know one another on a personal non-work level. All I can say is that he's one of the most genuine people you will ever meet. He's a working man and he loves life. And he's great at both.

check out what Jeremy and the rest of the Bolts Action crew has going on here.

And then go and take a peep at Jeremy's snowboarding and everything else life here!

Filson Shelter Cloth Coat

Shelter Cloth DOG Coat, that is.....that is right, Rufus has nicer outerwear than I do. It's like Filson says "Might as well have the best".

And he's got a budding male modeling career ahead of him.

he calls this next look...."Magnum"

and this one is just 'radical casual'

From the Filson website:

Oil finish Shelter Cloth shell for maximum water repellency, with classic red/black plaid Mackinaw Wool lining. Double layer of moleskin at the neck. Over-size Velcro closures at neck and chest provide a wide range of size adjustment. Measure from base of neck to base of tail. Made in USA.

Bike EXIF 2011 Calendar

Just head over here and buy it. Buy one for yourself and a few for friends that you know will want it. Great holiday gift. one that keeps on giving, month after month. I just got mine in the mail and am already lusting at each picture.

maybe this is old news, but seriously, I just had to share this one. If you didn't know about it, now you do. If you did, then you beat me to it.

Will Redd photo

I randomly found this picture the other day on Will's weblog when I was searching "get your death on". Will is a great friend and is also a very talented photographer. or according to him, just a guy with a camera. he must have caught me in the middle of a very common warm up excersize.....the tuning song.

Will and I used to sit next to each other back in the day at Nixon. It was a common thing to listen to fun music, kill the twilight hours working late, and wonder when the next "shit has hit the fan" explosion was going to happen. daily.

go check out his website here. and if you've been trying to get in touch with him, don't worry, he's probably just sitting in traffic.

Guitar Addiction

The home office/music room/guest room. At least the guitars are hung. I love my Les Pauls. Favorites! But the 52 telecaster is just so great to write with. Gotta have both.

Parking Spot #4

Is my new home.

Arrival at the new shop

It was a cold ride, but well worth it.

livin' dreamin'

these are two pictures that I took a while ago. nothing special about them, I just liked them and sort of forgot about them.

Chris wrote Hi Matt on the little metal plate on my headlight visor when I first got this bike. I left it in his garage for a weekend and when I was riding it home from picking it back up, I noticed it. I decided it will stay there. that was a long time ago. I think that what I like about this picture is all the fasteners and bolts and stuff involved with the front end. you look at it in a picture and realize...."when's the last time I checked if these things were tight?" or "what would happen if one of these little things came loose while I was riding?". perspective.

and then at one point I wrote Hi Kim on Kim's panhead rocker covers. that didn't go over slightly as well...at least I wrote it on the painter's tape and not directly on the pan.

this picture of the seat bolt I just like. the seat's mounting came out OK. the rear mounts are hidden and are not a fun task to assemble. I really wanted to polish this Stainless Steel bolt, but never got to it. Maybe this winter all those little details will finally happen.

random pictures - no sleep till BK

we drove and drove and drove. well, I did. and Rufus just slept and was so good on our cross country drive. here's some pictures of him waking up, he and I at the sign to Meteor Crater (which wasn't open before 8am when we drove by), and then some shots in brooklyn when we ran 1 block of the NY marathon followed by hitting up the park slope farmer's market.

yeah, experience the impact....

machina cycles - Brooklyn

upon looking for a decent place to be able to park my bike year round, I happened upon a craigslist ad for a place called machina cycles. they were advertising for either just winter storage (no daily access) or full service rental space which includes your own parking space, 24 hour access to the garage, and full access to the shop area in the back. plus it even has a bathroom and heat. its one subway stop away from our new apartment, or a 20 minute walk, or a 5 minute bicycle ride.

I met up with the shop's owner Euvin Weeber on Sunday to check it out. We talked motorcycles, music, bicycles, design, road trips, etc...I may have found my new shop.

all set up with closed caption cameras just in case and some super high security keys. each person who rents the full service space gets their own key which will open the regular door and the ability to open the full garage door once inside as well.

looks like there will be an open house/grand opening party this saturday, December 4th starting at 3PM. hopefully I'll see you there.

mis amigos

back to random photos of mine tomorrow. Today we celebrate the first of the 8 nights of Chanukah.

an amazing record album cover image. Pulled from this book that was recommended to me by my boss knowing my love of music and my personal identity (read: born into guilt) of being jewish.

random picture series

I have a bunch of pictures that I've never posted. Some from before I moved to NYC. Some from my cross country drive with Rufus. I'll be posting these over the next couple of days.
