Stuff on my counter

Random photo from this memorial day Saturday. Oh and be sure to listen to Dr. Dre's Let Me Ride today. I know we will be during the epic beer pong tournament in BK.

Born.....free?

We are in the final stretch and the cross-country build is happening. Slowly, but happening. Plane tickets have been purchased. I will be riding this thing to the event.

There will be many changes made from this state you see here to the final version.

Anyone have some different bars ideas? I was checking out the Pangea streamliner model, but I could also see some clean and narrow T bars working.

Gentry's Tank

Had the opportunity to navigate through the fog from Philly back to Brooklyn with Gentry. I am loving his panhead. Perfect blend of parts, even if he only gets 40 miles on a tank of gas.

Cushion for the Tush'in

Gonna try to make this work on the rigid. The rear fender's radius should actually work perfectly. Maybe a slight seat pan bend if any.

Ride to Skate or Ride to Ride

it was a later start to the day than ideal, but at around 8pm, Walter and I hit the road to Philly. Our goal was to get down there, maybe catch one of the bands, say hi to the Dice Magazine guys, hand out some flyers for an upcoming event and ride back home.

We hauled ass down there. The best part about riding without speedometers is the conversation like this:

walter: "man, how fast do you think we were riding?"
me: "I dunno, maybe like 70?"
walter: "riiiiiight....."

all I had was my iphone camera so here's 3 crap pictures.

brian from HOTW panhead built by love cycles.

I haven't really found the love for trumpets, but this one was well done. plus my brother in law, Michael Thursby was fa-reaking out about it, so it must be good.

Philly knows how to ride 2-Up. I've never seen it like this in california. Definitely inspirational to have that back seat and a sissy bar.
After 8 hours and some great laughs, and some intense fog, our complete round trip voyage from Walter's shop back to Brooklyn was complete. i'm tired.

Albuquerque

I went to New Mexico and all I got was this photo. And some great Adovada Burritos Christmas Style. That means with both the red AND green chiles. Thanks Francis!

I may post a few more pics later. Flying back from a detour through West Palm Beach and will hopefully make the Ride to Skate event down in Philly. My goal is to make it in time to catch American Speedway take the stage. Oh and to not break a tailbone.

Locals Only, bro

While my Rainbows are my staple choice for sandals, nothing beats a pair of Locals for their simplicity and memories. When I spent time in Hawaii some 10 years ago while in college I learned of the greatness that Longs Drugs would provide. Everyone bought their Locals there.

When you would go to a party, everyone would take their sandals off and there would be this pile of flip flops. It seemed that at the end of the night, you would just grab whatever pair fit you and hit the road.

A big thank you to Jose for hooking me up with a new pair!

Enough said. Sometimes I love my brother, other times I hate him.

Train with Bike with People

Now I know what it feels like to be stared at when you take your bicycle on the subway. I brought it to work to see how long it would take from work back to Brooklyn. Turns out to be the same as taking the subway.

Original content has been lacking lately I know. BUT when ghostface killah starts off this album, it is still perfect. If you have this album, listen to it today.

Tools are at the Shop

My slice of the pie is shaping up.

analytical

I’m not much of a numbers guy….actually, I sort of am.  But, anyway, this blog started a while ago and was really done so my mom could keep tabs on me when I was traveling the world for work.  Basically, a way for her to see that I was not dead without me having to call her to let her know.

Well, today, the blog has hit 48,800 pageviews.  Sure there’s a ton of other statistics that make that number smaller and tie it into repeat visits in the same day and all, but I just never thought that from June of 2010 when I loaded this little program that I would see an interest like this into my little world formerly known as my space.  (not THE myspace….but like, my space…you know)

The google analytics program is pretty amazing.  It shows you how many hits, by day, by country with a crazy fun map that you can dial into even further.  Down to the state, down to the town and basically as far as you want to go.  And I gotta say….California and Utah, New York is giving you some competition as of lately.  I thought San Diego and SLC would always be up there, but New York City is giving you a run for your money as of lately.

Maybe we’ll have a little party when the 50,000 mark is hit.
