old yank

Its pretty crazy that this is all that is left of the old Yankee Stadium. I took this picture when I went to the saturday game a few weekends ago on opening weekend.

I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting to hop the fence and run the bases.......and pretend I was Don Mattingly.

No, no...notorious

Biggie.....forever changed the way many people walk down the street. Myself included. So great. Every time the opening beats to Juicy start, my face instantly smiles with a swagger.

And hey mom.....

....happy Passover. I enjoyed my matzo ball soup last night! Thanks for always being my #1 visitor to the blog!

Comp's Wedding Day

It's a longer story than this, but shortly after dropping off our suits and Lauren's wedding dress to their room at the Standard, a fire broke out in the hotel. This left us without a place to get ready, both the guys and the gals. Also screwed up their wedding photo ideas of being on the High Line. So what did we do??

We took the groom to be across the street to Hogs and Heifers and started drinking. See how much more relaxed Chris became after a few drinks? Oh and that's my 'it's gonna be fine...' look.

Gravediggaz

6 Feet Deep is without a doubt one of the best hip hop albums ever. Definitely going to have a full Wu Tang and relatives posting week soon.

the sheriff's gift

Last night was a fun time out to dinner with Chris and Lauren's families and I got to see Chris's dad, which of course reminded me of the milk crate of chopper gold or brass or copper, depending on how you sift through the pile. hell, some of it is just plain chopper/gross crap. But it reminded me that I never posted about it.

Well after looking through his various old t-shirts, MC patches, bike club photos, there sat the milk crate of late 80's and early 90's Easyriders.

My goal was to post a picture a week from the mags, but I've slacked. Here's a few that stood out so far.

80's hair in the 90's....or was that just early 90's hair? either way it is great, terrible, awesome, horrible.

this bike and pic are just great. Kim has some other pics of this bike on his flickr page.

now this one, I love for 2 reasons:
If you can't buy it, make it....great motto that we live by.
and
Steven Stone did a quick photo shoot on a road trip to Bear Lake, CA where he captured me in that same exact pose. except I think that mine exposed a bit more. That was the vegas trip where the SLC and Cali crews met up, ate chicken fingers at Jake's request, drank whiskey all night, and I wouldn't take my leather vest off the whole time. including swimming in Bear Lake.

Lastly, when going through the how-to section of one of the mags, I just happened to glance at this picture and see mr. Jim Waggaman on the right. We rented our band space for GYDO from Jim for years in Carlsbad. It was right on the beach. you could literally throw a stone across the PCH and hit the sand. on many a warm day, it was surfing and playing music and then after the sun set, back to the beach for midnight swimming sessions. I just received word that the old band space has been flattened to make way for the new luxury hotel that will be going up soon....sad, but it was bound to happen. Jim and I would talk bikes from time to time, but he was always doing his own thing, hanging out, fixing, doing body work on classic cars and painting giant chickens.

When I get some more free time, I'm either going to start scanning the pages I want to post, or just take better pictures of them. these are piss poor and I know it.

Shuffle Board at the Dram Shop

Last Saturday, a few of us headed to Yankee Stadium for what we dubbed, "Comp's bachelor party part douche". NOT a classy name, but it made us all laugh every time we said it. I'll post pictures of 2 of our homerun celebrations this week, but wanted to get these two photos up.

After the game we headed to one of our burger spots to imbibe and enjoy some competitive bar sports at the Dram Shop. I'm pretty happy with the way they portray Chris's form and focus during tabletop shuffle board. Yes, he and Mikey beat Jose and I in the finals.

If Chris had his own blog it would say something like. "I believe that children are our future, teach them well and let them lead they way...."

He spends his fall, winter and spring days teaching the youth of the great city of NYC. And then gets to spend the summers fully enjoying all that life has to offer. not a bad gig.

is this shovel in trouble?

Kim sent me this. well he sent an unmolested version of the picture and for some reason, I adjusted the color and it looks a bit....wacky now....that's ok. He took the tranny out to inspect the innards. looks pretty good.

the new Yankee Stadium

Jose scored some amazing seats to today's game. Chris, Mike, Jose and myself will be pre-gaming on the upper east side and then taking the subway directly to the stadium...gotta love NYC.

see you in a few hours...

Food Post - the Tuna Melt

a complete meal. amazing comfort food. diners know what's up. when visiting my mom last weekend I was craving a tuna melt. Truth is, I could probably eat one every day. On this day though, I would get it. Even if I had to convince my mom to go to the "low class" diner.

diner tunafish with onion and celery (always better than homemade)
toasted bagel
slice of tomato
melted american cheese on top
side o' waffle fries, slaw and a pickle
dime a dozen out here.
